Fantasy football picks: Week 4

By Jake King | For The Duquesne Duke

Week 4 NFL

It seems everybody plays fantasy football nowadays. Whether you are in a league with the kids on your floor, in a league with your friends back home or even in daily leagues like DraftKings or FanDuel fantasy, football rules the life of many people today. After a pretty crazy first three weeks, you may need some help setting your lineups, here are some of the players that I think you should start or sit heading into this week.

QUARTERBACKS

 Start em:

Andy Dalton (Bengals): With plenty of weapons in the passing game, Dalton and wideout AJ Green should have another field day against a weak Chiefs pass defense that ranks 23rd against the pass.

Tyrod Taylor (Bills): The Bills are legit. Tyrod Taylor is legit. In Week 4 they host the New York Giants who are ranked 28th against the pass. Taylor should move the ball up and down the field all day against their in-state opponents.

Andrew Luck (Colts): You have to trust Andrew Luck? Right? After a huge 2014, Luck has somewhat struggled through three games (seven INTs). But I think his luck will change in Week 4 as I expect him to put up a lot of points against the Jaguars.

 Sit em:

Mike Vick (Steelers): It’s his first start of the year, he doesn’t know the offense that well, it’s a short week and it’s against a very hungry and desperate 0-3 Baltimore Ravens. Avoid Vick in at all costs.

Ryan Tannehill (Dolphins): The Dolphins don’t have much of an offensive line and they are matched up against an elite Jets secondary. Stay away from Tannehill during this week.

Matt Stafford (Lions): Stafford’s banged up (ribs) with no running game and heading to Seattle. I will be surprised if the Lions can even muster up double-digit points. Leave Stafford out of your lineups this week.

RUNNING BACKS

Start em:

Matt Forte (Bears): Forte will get a ton of touches against a weak Raiders run defense. Look for Forte to carry the Bears’ offense on Sunday.

Joseph Randle (Cowboys): Dallas’ O-Line is tremendous and Randle seems to be the go to guy after injuries to stars like Tony Romo and Dez Bryant.

Eddie Lacy (Packers): Lacy should run all over the 49ers who have been blown out in back-to-back weeks.

Sit em:

Carlos Hyde (49ers): The ‘Niners will likely be behind most of the game against the Packers so I simply do not see Hyde getting many touches as they will have to pass the ball more.

Lamar Miller (Dolphins): The ‘Fins have a weak offensive line and they’ll be going against the second ranked run defense (Jets).

WIDE RECEIVERS

Start ‘em

T.Y. Hilton (Colts): After a slow start, I think Luck and Hilton connect for over 100 yards receiving and a touchdown against a very weak Jaguars defense. Start Hilton!

DeAndre Hopkins (Texans): Houston will need to throw the ball a lot if they want to keep pace with the Falcons’ high scoring offense. Hopkins is prime for another big day.

Amari Cooper (Raiders): The rookie has been amazing through his first three games (20 catches). He is due for another big day against the 31st ranked passing defense when the Raiders travel to Chicago.

Sit em:

Terrence Williams (Cowboys): Many thought he would be the next guy in line after Dez Bryant went down with an injury but Williams is just no longer part of the offense as Brandon Weedon is the new QB. Avoid Williams in all formats.

Calvin Johnson (Lions): Usually Johnson would be on the “Start ‘em” list but not against cornerback Richard Sherman and Seattle. You probably want to keep him in your lineups because of his skill set, but do not expect much from the future hall of famer.
