A Duquesne student was reportedly sexually assaulted in a campus dorm Sunday morning, according to police.

According to a mass email sent out Sunday morning by Duquesne Public Safety Chief Tom Hart, the assault happened early Sunday morning “inside one of the Living Learning Centers” on campus. It was not immediately clear in which dorm the assault occurred.

Hart added that a suspect has been identified and an investigation is in progress. Police have not yet named the suspect or indicated whether or not the attacker is a Duquesne student.

Duquesne’s TAP No. 31 policy on sexual misconduct defines sexual assault as “attempted or actual sexual contact performed without the active, verbal consent of another individual.”

The policy differentiates this from rape, which it defines as “sexual intercourse” through means of “forcible compulsion.”
