A student was led away from Assumption Hall in handcuffs Wednesday morning after being arrested by Duquesne police for possessing a large quantity of marijuana, university spokeswoman Rose Ravasio confirmed.

The 18-year-old male student is suspected of selling or giving away drugs to others, as “the amount confiscated suggests that it was for more than personal use,” Ravasio wrote in an email to The Duke.

Marijuana possession was recently decriminalized in Pittsburgh, but possessing more than 30 grams is still a criminal offense.

Ravasio said the incident is still being investigated, and it is likely that criminal charges will be filed.
